HP OMEN Transcend 14 Product Film
After several years of product work with HP, our team was invited to help push the OMEN brand somewhere new. We created a surreal, multi-world launch film and used the project to evolve our production pipeline, combining traditional 3D craft with VR scene building, real-time exploration, and carefully selected AI-assisted tools.
Brief
The OMEN Transcend 14 was built for gamers, musicians, designers, animators, and creators whose needs could not be represented by one generic environment.
The film needed to communicate real product features while feeling native to those communities, not like a technology brand describing them from the outside. It was also one of the largest motion productions our department had taken on, requiring multiple teams and disciplines to work as one.
Approach
Together, we built four distinct environments representing gaming, music, visual creativity, and portability. The OMEN diamond became a portal between them, giving the film a clear structural idea rather than a collection of disconnected scenes.
We kept production in-house from development through delivery. Integrating VR scene building, real-time tools, and AI-assisted exploration early in the process gave the artists more ways to prototype ideas, solve complex environments, and move quickly without sacrificing the finish and intentionality of the final animation.
Role
As one of the motion leads on the project, I helped bring together the full W+K Motion department, multiple design teams within W+K Studio, and our editorial partners at JOINT around a shared visual and production approach.
My role focused on helping shape the creative direction, coordinating the motion pipeline across teams, directing key areas of the work, and supporting the artists as the film moved from early development through final delivery. On a project of this scale, leadership was distributed, and the strength of the work came from each lead, artist, designer, editor, and producer owning a different part of the whole.
A fully integrated product film that expanded both the OMEN visual world and the way our team could build it.
The project brought multiple disciplines into a single creative system, with the OMEN diamond serving as the connective idea across every environment, transition, and product story. Just as importantly, it gave our department a new model for how a large, multidisciplinary motion team could work together.
